Liverpool are being linked with a move for Randal Kolo Muani ahead of the summer window. The Reds have stepped up their search for attacking reinforcements following Hugo Ekitike’s long-term Achilles injury.

Ekitike is expected to keep him out for around nine months after sustaining the issue against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Slot has admitted the long-term injury to Ekitike will influence Liverpool’s summer transfer plans. “I think you always take into account which players you are having available for large parts of next season and then you think ‘what’s there on the market, what can we afford, who wants to come to us?’,” he said.

“So it is not as simple as people think it is… ‘oh there is a good player walking around, let’s sign him’. You always look at your squad for the short and long-term.

“Especially this club is very focused on the long-term, a lot of other clubs are very focused on the short-term but this club tries to combine that with the long-term.

“So a lot of factors go into a decision and one of them is definitely Hugo being out and the other one is what is available and what does the rest of the team look like and what do we need?

“But we are mainly focused here on the upcoming six games because that could also impact our plans for the summer at this club.”

According to Calciomercato.it, Kolo Muani – currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur – will return to PSG at the end of the season, but could depart permanently soon after, with Liverpool among the interested clubs as they also prepare for the exit of Mohamed Salah.

Juventus have also been linked. Kolo Muani joined Juventus during the 2024-25 season, scoring 10 goals and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The 27-year-old, under contract in Paris until 2028, has five goals and four assists in 36 appearances for Spurs this season, including one in the Premier League. He is not expected to remain at Spurs regardless of their survival hopes.

PSG, led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos, are prepared to sell the forward permanently after signing him for nearly €90million in 2023, with no plans to sanction another loan.
