Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Igor Tudor brings an abrupt end to one of the shortest and most damaging managerial spells in the club’s recent history.
Appointed in February as a short-term solution after the dismissal of Thomas Frank, Tudor was tasked with stabilising a side drifting toward relegation.
Instead, the situation deteriorated further.
Across seven matches in all competitions, Tudor failed to win a single game.
His record of one draw and six defeats reflected a team that lacked structure and confidence.
In the Premier League, the numbers were even more concerning.
Tottenham collected just one point from a possible 15, leaving them 17th in the table, only one point above the relegation zone.
That solitary point came against Liverpool in a 1–1 draw.
It was the only moment of resistance in an otherwise bleak run that included defeats to Arsenal, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
The final loss, a 3–0 home defeat, proved decisive.
Defensively, the team struggled throughout his tenure.
Tottenham conceded 20 goals in seven matches, while scoring only six.
His preferred 3-4-2-1 system exposed a fragile back line and failed to bring balance.
In Europe, Spurs exited the Champions League following a 7–5 aggregate defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Despite moments of attacking promise, the team’s defensive issues persisted.
The club confirmed his departure in a formal statement, “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect.”
“Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of Goalkeeping Coach and Physical Coach.”
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly.”
“We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
“An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course.”
Tottenham’s next move remains unclear.
From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, the lack of direction at Tottenham is hard to ignore, especially at this stage of the season when clarity should be a priority, not a luxury.
There is now a fresh layer to the situation.
talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed that a former Liverpool player, Robbie Keane, is among the names being considered by the North London club.
The Tottenham legend enjoyed two spells at the club, scoring over 100 goals and playing a key role in their 2008 League Cup triumph.
On the international stage, his record is even more impressive as he remains the Republic of Ireland’s all-time leading scorer with 68 goals in 146 appearances.
Keane’s club career also highlights his pedigree.
During his time in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy, he scored 83 goals in 125 league appearances and won three MLS Cups, including an MVP-winning campaign in 2014.
Now managing Ferencváros, Keane brings experience from both playing and coaching.
However, indications suggest he would favour a long-term role rather than a short-term fix, which could complicate Tottenham’s immediate plans.
