Social media users speculated how an entire country could be “taken out in one night,” sparking fears that a nuclear weapon could be used.

One user wrote on social media platform X: “The only way to take a country out in one night is with nukes.”

Another user wrote: “President Trump hints he may use a nuclear weapon against Iran and says the day of reckoning could be tomorrow, where the entire country of Iran could be taken out in one night.”

The Mirror was not able confirm whether the use of nuclear warfare would have the effect of destroying an entire country.

Trump spoke just hours after threatening to obliterate Iran’s power plants.

He said he would rain down “hell” on the country if the deadline he gave to re-open the Strait of Hormuz, due to end at 8pm ET on Tuesday night (1am BST on Wednesday), was not met, later adding the US would “blow up the entire country”.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” Trump said on Truth Social on Easter Sunday. “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy b*stards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
