Alix Lynx, 36, has spent over £75,000 on cosmetic surgery over the past decade including nose jobs, breast augmentation and Botox. She says her face is practically “frozen in time”
A woman who has forked out more than £75,000 on cosmetic surgery has shared what drove her to spend such a fortune transforming her appearance. Alix Lynx, 36, from New York, first went under the knife more than a decade ago.
She was just 22 when she had her first nose job, having wanted it since her teenage years because she felt “self-conscious” about her nose. Alix believed it was “way too big” for her face, and after breaking it several times, she became increasingly paranoid about its appearance so, when she finished university, she worked out how to fund the operation.
This marked the beginning of her cosmetic surgery journey in pursuit of enhanced beauty. She’s far from the only woman to have invested thousands in transforming her image.
Alix, who boasts over two million Instagram followers, said: “I spent so much money on surgery because I’ve had to undergo the same procedure multiple times. Back then, I just didn’t know the best approach for getting surgery, so I just went to a regular plastic surgeon.
“He did a fine job, and he had done work on a lot of my friends who looked great. I didn’t consider that I should go to a specialist because they would give me exactly what I want that will be timeless and last forever.
“The initial surgeon wasn’t bad, but I just wish I had gone to an actual rhinoplasty specialist. Same with my boobs – both times I went to general surgeons, so I had to keep getting revisions to kind of correct the previous person’s work.
“That’s part of why I’ve spent so much money on my surgeries. Another part is that, after I got my nose done, I realised how much weight was off my shoulders, as I was so self-conscious about it.
“After that, here and there, if I was self-conscious about certain parts of me, I didn’t see the harm in fixing it.
“For example, at the age of 22 to 23, I got CoolSculpting (a non-invasive, FDA-cleared procedure that freezes and destroys stubborn fat cells) done to remove fat pockets in my body that I just couldn’t get rid of.
“I wouldn’t do it again, but non-invasive fat loss felt like such an easy way to get rid of something I was struggling to lose naturally.”
Around that period, Alix revealed she also started noticing fine lines appearing, prompting her to begin preventative Botox treatments, essentially “freezing her face” to maintain a youthful appearance. She’s now virtually wrinkle-free.
However, Alix insists it’s not about appearing younger than her years, but rather feeling comfortable and confident in her own skin.
“I love looking my best and feeling my best,” she continued. “I realised back then, when doing things like my nose, I really enjoyed the feeling that getting stuff done gave me.
“I feel like I’m taking care of myself and I’m investing in myself. I was always into fashion, but back then my income was very limited, so instead of buying the newest designer bag I would spend my money on stuff at the Medspa.
“I just figured it would last longer and I would carry those results with me forever. I got my nose done, I was really happy.
“Then for a while, I had wanted to get my boobs done, so I waited a few years to save my money and I did that. I don’t want to paint the picture that I was obsessed with getting surgeries. Because of how I look you can tell I’m pretty moderate with the things I do.”
When she underwent her first rhinoplasty, Alix used a portion of her student loan to cover the costs. Whilst she acknowledges this isn’t something she’d do now, she insists she has no regrets.
She then put money aside to fund her breast augmentation and covered her Botox treatments herself. Her successful webcamming career has since boosted her earnings considerably, helping to finance her transformation.
Alix said: “I had a lot more money to play with, and I gradually became more responsible. I just did a lot of that stuff early on when I was really young.
“Honestly, people say I look better with age, and I have to agree. I really do, but that’s because I’ve put a lot of work into myself. I’m not trying to look like I’m 20; I’m trying to look like the best version of myself right now.
“Yes, maybe that means I look a few years younger than I actually am, but my goal has never been to look 20 again. It’s just to age as well as I can and look my best at this stage of my life.”
