A woman browsing her local charity shop was gobsmacked when she found shoes for just £6 – as they were carrying a very famous designer label

Charity shopping can be a bit of a lottery, but occasionally, the gamble pays off spectacularly. Sifting through the infinite clothing racks at your local charity shop in search of a bargain can often feel like a daunting task, but there’s always the possibility of unearthing something you adore – or that’s worth a small fortune.

A savvy shopper recently struck gold on social media after discovering a pair of shoes at a Goodwill store in the US for a mere $7.99 (£6). She was initially drawn to them due to their appealing design, but upon spotting the designer label inside the shoe, she knew they were a must-have.

In a post shared on the Goodwill Finds forum on Reddit, the woman revealed she actually bagged four pairs of heeled shoes, with one of them sporting a price tag of just $7.99 (£6). However, all four pairs hailed from a highly renowned designer brand – Jimmy Choo.

The lucky shopper showcased a pair of sleek black pointed heels, a pair of open-toed brown heels, and a pair of black heels featuring an ankle strap. She mentioned in the caption that she found four pairs of Jimmy Choos, although the design of the fourth pair remains a mystery.

She only disclosed the price tag on the black pointed pair, leaving it uncertain whether all four pairs were priced at the bargain rate, or whether the rest were more expensive.

While the precise shoes the woman purchased may no longer be stocked new at Jimmy Choo, comparable footwear on the brand’s website costs approximately £600 for a standard pair of black heels.

Those commenting on the post were similarly astonished by how inexpensive the designer shoes were. Numerous people attempted to devise explanations for why the footwear was reduced so drastically, with some jokingly suggesting that somebody unfamiliar with designer fashion had handled the pricing that day.

One individual pondered: “Divorce. My ex and I separated, and she moved out. I packed up all her things (and shoes! I had no idea she had so many) in boxes and stored them away. Two years later, after the divorce was settled, I asked her if she wanted her stuff. No, she said, I could toss it. Lots of stuff went to Goodwill. Have no idea if any of it was worth anything; I just didn’t want to deal with it.”

Another commenter revealed: “Honestly, I hate selling things. I dropped off several pairs of Manolos and some Dolce outfits at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago.”

But others warned there’s always a possibility the shoes could be counterfeit, which would explain why they’re being offered at such a reduced price. They urged the woman to have the shoes verified if she intends to resell them, ensuring she doesn’t “accidentally scam someone” by flogging fake designer goods.

Nevertheless, plenty of individuals shared supportive messages with the woman, with many applauding her discovery and several others expressing how envious they felt.

Someone commented: “Nice find, and they look in great shape, too.”

Another remarked: “Do not ask how, thank the thrift gods and be humbled by their gift.”

A third posted: “Those are the kind of finds you buy, whether the shoe is your size or not.”
