The M25 anticlockwise is at a standstill after a car burst into flames as London faces more travel misery.
All traffic is being temporarily held and there are long delays due to the blaze from J9 A243 (Leatherhead) to J8 A217 Brighton Road (Reigate).
National Highways says normal traffic conditions are not expected until between 6.45pm and 7pm. The incident comes as London Tube strikes continue to wreak havoc on transport in the capital.
