Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its role in improving healthcare delivery in rural communities across the state.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, gave the commendation during the NYSC orientation camp ceremony held at Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area.
He said the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers has contributed significantly to expanding access to basic medical services in underserved communities.
Fubara also noted that the increasing number of corps members posted to Rivers State reflects growing confidence in the state’s security environment and governance system.
He assured corps members of the continued support of the state government and encouraged them to make productive use of their service year.
In his remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, appealed to the government to speed up work on a proposed 1,000-bed hostel to address accommodation challenges at the orientation camp.
A total of 3,665 corps members were officially sworn in and took the oath of allegiance during the ceremony.
