A new film inspired by real events is bringing renewed attention to the issue of extrajudicial killings in Nigeria, more than two decades after the widely reported Apo Six incident.

Titled “The Night of June 7th,” the movie tells the story of six young Nigerians whose lives were cut short following an encounter with a police officer in 2005.

The film portrays how what began as a routine outing among friends turned into a tragic event that had far-reaching consequences and sparked public outrage.

Through its narrative, the production revisits the circumstances surrounding the incident and reflects on the broader impact of such cases on society.
