A staff member at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos has been commended after he recovered and returned a passenger’s lost purse containing cash and important travel documents.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29, at Terminal 2, around the Rwanda Air check-in area, where the staff member, identified as Frank Omorojie, reportedly found the misplaced item during routine activity at the departure hall.

Inside the purse were $1,700 in cash, a Nigerian passport, a British passport, and a credit card belonging to the passenger.

Omorojie immediately reported the discovery to Aviation Security personnel at the airport. Following standard procedures, the items were properly documented and handed over to the Customer Service unit, which then made a public announcement in an effort to trace the owner.

Airport authorities praised Omorojie for his actions, describing the recovery and return of the purse as a reflection of professionalism and integrity among airport staff. They noted that such conduct helps strengthen public trust in airport operations.

Speaking briefly on the incident, Omorojie said his decision was guided by basic principles of honesty, stating simply: “I just did what was right.”
