Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has teased what fans can expect from season 4 of the BBC crime drama.
Kris Marshall has hinted that the forthcoming series of Beyond Paradise will be packed with “drama”.
The actor previously appeared in the BBC’s beloved crime drama Death in Paradise, set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie, before reprising his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the spin-off, which follows Humphrey as he settles into life in Devon, reports the Express.
Speaking about the upcoming fourth series during an appearance on The One Show, Kris revealed that following Humphrey’s wedding to partner Martha (Sally Bretton) in the Christmas special, “there’s not the will-they-won’t-they drama going on”.
“But there’s a lot more dramas following him,” he said, hinting at “a rather nautical drama that occurs pretty much at the beginning of season four”. “So yeah, drama is not too far away with Humphrey!” he laughed.
When quizzed about his favourite crime from the new episodes, Kris revealed: “Well, I mean, I always love anything involving water and being in the water or on the water.
“We have got a wonderful episode this season about mermaids. So obviously that invariably involves a lot of water.
“And yeah, so that’s always my favourite.”
Kris joined the programme, hosted by JB Gill and Clara Amfo, alongside his co-star Dylan Llewellyn, who portrays Constable Kelby Hartford.
Asked about some of the new cases awaiting the officers, Dylan revealed: “So for the season we’ve got a lot more folklore again, which is great, a lot of like treasure maps, treasure map of Shipton Abbott, Green Man, and Morris dancing, although we call it Dark Morris dancing.”
Dylan suggested that his character becomes immersed in the action during the programme’s latest run, saying: “Honestly, they get me running. They get me dirty for sure.”
He described how in one scene he was “falling about in like a muddy dock area”, continuing: “And yeah, it took me a couple of showers to get the seaweed smell out of me.”
“I was like really sinking in,” he stated. “That is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, honestly,” Kris interjected. “I mean, he is hilarious.”
The One Show airs at 7pm on BBC One on weekdays.
The new series of Beyond Paradise starts at 8pm on BBC One on Friday (March 27).
