Three people have been killed and two are injured after a helicopter crashed into a popular beach.
The aircraft was carrying four passengers and one pilot when it came down at Kalalau Beach on the Hawaiian island of Kauai on Thursday afternoon, the island’s fire department said. Tragically, three people were pronounced dead and the remaining two were taken to Wilcov Medical Centre for treatment. The extent of their injuries are not known.
The helicopter, operated by Airborne Aviation, crashed at around 3.45pm local time.
Kalalau Beach is a popular tourist bucket-list destination known for its stunning, pristine scenery. It features towering cliffs, turquoise waters, and golden sand. Because of its remote location, travellers take part in a challenging 11-mile hike to access the beauty spot.
