A tourist bus has plunged down a ravine after coming off a road on the Canary island of La Gomera, with one person killed and 14 people injured
A person has died and at least 14 people have been injured in a horrific tourist bus crash in the Canary Islands.
The vehicle plunged down a ravine after coming off the GM-2 on the island of La Gomera. Pictures from the scene show the vehicle on its side several feet from the main road, near a tunnel. The accident happened around 1.15pm local time.
A spokesman for a regional emergency response coordination centre said: “One person has died, three people are seriously injured and 11 others have suffered moderate injuries.
“The Canary Islands Emergency Service has sent to the scene of the accident a medicalised helicopter, five ambulances and a medical team including nurses.”
So far no details have been given by authorities about the nationalities of those on board.
