Castello Lukeba is a 23-year-old French centre-back for RB Leipzig who has made 77 appearances for the club across all competitions since joining in 2023.

He is a player whose performances have attracted the interest of the biggest clubs in the Premier League including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Lukeba has expressed to the club that he is ready for a new challenge, but his exit depends on whether the right offer from a club comes in.

To build on these updates, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the player is expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer with many clubs “on alert2 over striking a potential move.

The release clause for the player is 80million euros but that is a price tag that Romano states can be negotiated to a lower figure.

Both parties have decided that his time at the club is expected to end this summer after three years in Germany.

Castello Lukeba is just starting out in football, but his presence is beginning to be felt.

The defender has become a key part of RB Leipzig’s side, appearing 26 times across all competitions so far this season.

He has built on the success of 2023 as at just 20 years old he made the switch from Lyon to RB Leipzig, and he also received his first call-up for the France national team for matches against the Netherlands and Scotland, replacing the injured Axel Disasi.

The talented defender is the latest name to be linked in connection with Liverpool as they will be coming off the back of a hugely disappointing campaign unless they pull of a miracle in the Champions League.

Liverpool’s next opponents in that competition are the dominant PSG and with Luis Enrique resting key players in a 3-1 win against Toulouse over the weekend, his side will be ready to give it everything on Wednesday.

Liverpool have been uncharacteristically poor at keeping the ball out of their net this season and will be eagerly looking to strengthen their backline this summer.

The conundrum over Ibrahima Konate’s future at the club remains a concern, with the Frenchman continuing to stall over signing a contract extension with the club.

If Liverpool look to strike a deal for Lukeba, it could be a double raid on the Bundesliga side for the Reds this summer.

Liverpool’s interest in Lukeba’s teammate Yan Diomande is well documented and they are very keen on exploring a deal for him this summer.

Keen to find successors to Mohamed Salah, Yan Diomande is right in the mix to become the heir to the throne.

The recent update from Fabrizio Romano confirmed that RB Leipzig were in discussions with Yan Diomande over offering him a new deal, but that is a decision Diomande will only make based on bids the club receives this summer.
