A man has shared his dog’s adorable reaction to him slowly saying the pup’s ‘favourite word’, which quickly sparked an exciting reaction that made anyone smile

A dog owner shared the adorable moment he said his dog’s favourite word, and the pup quickly has an adorable reaction to it. If it’s one thing that always has a good chance of going viral and gaining attention online, it’s cute pet and animal videos.

From cats cuddling together to dogs having the zoomies and playing, or even wild animals acting domestic, people just love watching animals being happy and themselves. Most so pet owners, which include one Los Angeles-based man who has made a TikTok account where he shares snippets of his life with his dog, Truffle.

Truffle is a Long Haired Mini Dachshund living the best life in LA. With over 31,700 followers on TikTok, Truffle is often seen playing with his owner, or showing off his cute self.

In one video, Truffle’s owner went on to share the little pup’s adorable reaction for when he hears his favourite word being said. And there’s no doubt that he loves what it means.

In the video, Truffle is seen laying on a blanket on the sofa, when his owner walked up before the dog, who slowly started to crawl towards the human.

“Do you…,” the man said, making the pup’s tail start waging faster. “Want to….” the man continued before saying: “Go,” which lead to the dog starting to quickly jump off the sofa and run towards the front door.

Clearly not caring where they would go, as long as they went somewhere together. As they got to the front door, Truffle tried jumping up on the wall to get to his harness and lead, which was hanging right next to the door.

“Do you want to…. go?” the owner teased again as he grabbed the harness and held it towards Truffle, who was jumping excitedly on the floor.

“You wanna go? You wanna go?” he continued to say, as he moved the harness in the air for Truffle to chase.

The video then cut to Truffle jumping in excitement on the sofa, as he waited for his owner to come and sit down so he could get the harness on. While a bit too excited to sit still, the owner had to hold him still as he attached the harness, but as soon as he let go, Truffle ran at full speed back to the door.

Do dogs understand what we say?

While it may sound strange at first, dogs can actually understand what we say, but not exactly as humans do. Research shows they comprehend specific words, such as “sit” or “walk”.

But they can also recognise the tone of voice, and process both in different parts of their brain, similar to humans. While they don’t understand complex sentences, they can grasp vocabulary, emotional tone, and associate sounds with specific outcomes.

If you smile and excitedly say “let’s go for a walk!”, your dog will likely wag his tail and prance around enthusiastically. If you utter those very same words in a gruff voice with a scowl on your face, he may cower and whine.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, scientists have observed that dogs respond much like human infants in understanding language. In fact, dogs may have roughly the same cognitive ability as a 6- to 12-month-old human infant, such as both quickly understanding what ‘no’ means when they do something they shouldn’t.

Although many scientists agree that dogs understand specific words, some don’t believe they comprehend full sentences. They argue that saying “trees, birds, grass, walk” invokes the same meaning as “let’s go for a walk”. While the dog may not understand every word in the sentence, he gets “walk”.
