Liverpool will return from the international break straight into a FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Reds dispatched Barnsley, Brighton, and Wolves to book their place in the last eight. The clash against Pep Guardiola’s men is kicking off at 12:45pm BST on Saturday, April 4, live on TNT Sports.

City have already beaten Liverpool twice in the Premier League this season, winning 3-0 at the Etihad in November before completing a dramatic late comeback to snatch a 2-1 win at Anfield in February, with Erling Haaland converting an injury-time penalty.

The last FA Cup meeting between the two clubs came in the 2022 semi-finals, where Liverpool edged a memorable 3-2 win at Wembley.

Adding an intriguing subplot, Pep Guardiola will be absent from the dugout due to suspension, with former Liverpool assistant Pepijn Lijnders set to take charge of City against his old club.

Should the Reds overcome City, attention will immediately turn to the FA Cup semi-final draw –  the final draw of this season’s competition. The four semi-finalists will be drawn from the remaining quarter-final winners, with all ties heading to Wembley Stadium across the weekend of Saturday, April 25. The FA Cup final itself is scheduled for Saturday, May 16.

talkSPORT are reporting that the semi-final draw will take place following the conclusion of the last quarter-final fixture (West Ham and Leeds at the London Stadium) on April 5. That clash kicks off at 16:30 BST, but no official time for the draw has been made available just yet.

All four ball numbers for the semi-finalists will be assigned only once the last-eight results are confirmed. The semi-finals are scheduled to take place at Wembley on April 25 and 26.

First, though, Liverpool must get past City. And after what happened in November and February, nothing about this tie will be straightforward.
