The teenager was approached at a bus stop in Norris Green before he was touched inappropriately, leaving him ‘shocked and very distressed’
A schoolboy has been sexually assaulted at a bus stop in Liverpool, with police launching a manhunt for the suspect.
The 13 year old was reportedly approached by a man at a bus stop on Utting Avenue in the Norris Green Liverpool suburb at about 7.50am on Friday, June 19.
The man then started engaging in conversation with the boy before touching him inappropriately, Merseyside Police said.
The force added that the teenager then left the bus stop “in shock” and went back home.
A search of the area has been conducted by officers. They say they are looking for a suspect described as “a white man aged around 65 years of age, 5ft 5in tall with short grey hair and speaks with a southern accent”.
Merseyside Police added that the suspect was wearing black shorts and a grey T-shirt.
Detective Inspector Joe Rea said: “I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare, and we are taking this incident extremely serious. The victim was very shocked and understandably very distressed by the incident.
“Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and we are continuing with our enquiries to find the suspect.”
Det Insp Rea urged anyone who was in the area of Utting Avenue between 7.45am and 8.15am to contact the police.
He has also asked motorists to check their footage to see if they have captured a man matching the description of the suspect.
