A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has now been released pending further inquiries, Police Scotland said
A woman has allegedly been raped in Glasgow city centre with police rushing to the scene and closing off an area under a motorway.
Officers were alerted to a serious sexual assault involving an 18-year-old woman off Cheapside Street in Anderston at around 3am on Tuesday, June 16.
A man, aged 36, has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released pending further inquiries, reports GlasgowLive.
No further details have been released but officers continue to carry out investigations into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 36-year-old man has been arrested and released pending further enquiries following a report of the serious sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in the area of Cheapside Street, Glasgow, around 3am on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
