A twisted stalker created a bogus Tinder profile using photographs of his former girlfriend in a depraved attempt to lure men to her home to attack her.
Asad Hussain, also known as Ash Hussain, 36, has been found guilty following a disturbing campaign of harassment.
Cheshire Police revealed that men began arriving at a woman’s address in 2024, claiming she had matched with them on Tinder and invited them round.
Some told her she had sent messages stating she wished to engage in ‘rape fantasy’ and to be ‘roughed up’. They claimed to have been told that if she said ‘no’, it meant she ‘wanted it more’.
In truth, the woman’s ex-boyfriend Hussain had fabricated a fake profile, impersonating her online. He handed her phone number and email address to at least 18 strangers, urging them to visit her home, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Hussain, of Hankinson Avenue, Heald Green, Stockport, was convicted at Chester Crown Court on Friday (May 1). He was found guilty of stalking involving serious alarm or distress; assault by beating; and failure to comply with a section 49 RIPA notice – a formal demand requiring people to provide password to their devices.
The court was told that in 2024, the victim went on several dates with Hussain after he approached her via social media, presenting himself under the false name ‘Mick Renney’.
Hussain, police said, became progressively more controlling. On one occasion, he turned up uninvited at the victim’s home upon discovering she had a male friend visiting. The victim once awoke to discover Hussain scrutinising her messages. He subjected her to relentless questioning, interrogating her about whether she was involved with other men.
When she attempted to use the bathroom, Hussain protested, insisting she couldn’t take her phone without his presence. When she eventually went, he barged his way inside and shoved her, causing her to tumble as he seized her mobile.
Following the relationship’s breakdown, Hussain reached out to the woman’s relatives and acquaintances, alleging she had been unfaithful to him. He made repeated efforts to reconcile, all of which were rejected.
Roughly two months afterwards, several men started appearing at the victim’s address, asserting they had connected with her on Tinder and that she had extended invitations to them.
On a single evening in August, four men visited her property, each having received nearly identical messages supposedly from her.
Some reported her messages indicated she wished to participate in a ‘rape fantasy’ and ‘be roughed up’. The individual impersonating her had stated if she refused, it signified ‘she wanted it more’.
In September, a man rang her doorbell before forcing the door, shattering a glass panel. He displayed messages from the fraudulent account claiming ‘the front door was open for him’ and that he should give it a ‘shove’ as it was ‘stiff’.
Another man attended the property later that same day while she was at work. He succeeded in gaining entry while the woman’s daughter was upstairs by herself. He departed without incident.
Cheshire Police revealed many of the men – thought to be at least 18 individuals though the actual figure remains ‘unknown’ – supplied the victim with their information to assist the investigation. All reported that after matching with the profile, they were swiftly invited round and given her address and phone number.
Upon arrival, they were asked by the account ‘what cars were parked outside’. They were subsequently told she was waiting in her conservatory for them and instructed to enter.
While police were unable to locate ‘Mick Renney’ on their systems, officers examining the victim’s doorbell footage identified his Audi R8 as being registered and insured to Hussain’s business.
Detectives determined that Hussain had made ‘significant efforts’ to hide his identity, altering his car’s registration and utilising dedicated mobile phones for his alter ego and the bogus Tinder account, which he disposed of after discovering the police investigation.
Hussain was eventually arrested on October 6, 2024 after Cumbria Police officers noticed his van on the M6. During questioning, he denied being ‘Mick Renney’; knowing the victim; and using fake Tinder accounts or any form of social media.
Police were able to demonstrate that whenever the Tinder accounts were active, Hussain had travelled from Cheadle to Northwich, remaining at an industrial unit or parked up two miles from the victim’s residence, while operating the fake accounts for hours at a time.
He was charged in March 2025. He faced additional charges that September for failing to comply with an order to disclose his password after refusing to hand over the passwords for a mobile phone and iPad seized from his van.
He maintained his denial of any involvement in the offences but was found guilty by a jury at Chester Crown Court following a nine-day trial. A Cheshire Police officer working on the case described it as ‘one of the most disturbing cases’ the force had ever investigated.
“Hussain is an extremely deceitful individual whose only objective was to cause maximum harm to the victim and her children, even going as far as to incite others to break into her home and sexually assault her,” said investigating officer PC Keith Terrill.
“At no point has Hussain taken any responsibility for his actions or recognised the sheer horror he came close to unleashing. He repeatedly claimed he’d never met the victim. The evidence however has shown this to be a complete lie.
“He went to great lengths to prevent the victim discovering his real identity, frustrate the investigation, and avoid being caught. These events have understandably left the victim and her children incredibly shaken and distressed.
“The strength and bravery shown by them throughout has been incredible. Thanks to this and the incredible support from her daughters, friends and other witnesses, Hussain has been held to account for his actions.
“For any victims who are in a similar situation and may be unsure of whether to call police, my plea is please do call us; we will listen to you, and we will take what you tell us very seriously.”
Hussain will be sentenced at a later date.
