Liverpool have just kicked off their latest Premier League fixture against Brighton.

With not even ten minutes on the clock, Hugo Ekitike went down following a heavy challenge from James Milner.

The former Liverpool midfielder showed that he was up for the game during the early stages and has definitely left a mark on the Frenchman.

After getting up and attempting to carry on, Hugo Ekitike has been forced off after deeming the uncomfort he was in too much to bear and he has been replaced by Curtis Jones.

Arne Slot fielded arguably his strongest XI for the very first time this season in midweek as Liverpool cruised to an emphatic victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League round of 16.

Since then, Mohamed Salah has been sidelined with injury, along with Alisson Becker.

Hugo Ekitike now appears to be joining that list.

Ini tial observations appeared to show that the striker simply suffered a dead leg, but it is telling that he was emotional as he headed for the tunnel, potentially hinting at a more serious injury.

Arne Slot will be hoping he hasn’t just lost another of his star players as the club approach a crucial part of the season.
