The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally welcomed back former Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere, alongside ex-House of Assembly member, Uche Ogbuagu, into its fold.

The returning politicians arrived at the party secretariat in Owerri with their supporters, where they were received by officials of the PDP National Working Committee led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed.

Party describes return as turning point

Speaking at the event, Abdulrahman said the return of prominent political figures signalled renewed strength for the party in Imo State, describing the development as a turning point in its political journey.

He maintained that the PDP remained united and fully prepared for future elections, insisting that internal disagreements within the party had largely been resolved.

According to him, only individuals intent on destabilising the party remain outside its reconciliation process.

He urged the new entrants to feel at home, assuring them of equal treatment and full participation in party affairs.

PDP declares renewed strength

Also speaking, the National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, dismissed claims that the PDP was weakened, insisting that recent political developments show the party remains active and focused.

He listed other returning members present at the event, including Professor Awuzie, Sir Mike Ejiogu, Vitus Nwoke, and Anthony Odunze, among others.

Anyanwu said the PDP is working towards regaining political strength at both state and national levels, with plans aimed at reshaping governance and economic direction in the country.

He called on Nigerians, particularly voters in Imo State, to support the party, describing it as an inclusive platform open to all.

‘The party faced challenges but is stronger’

The Imo PDP Chairman, Austin Nwachukwu, said the party is experiencing renewed unity after a period of internal challenges at the national level which had created tensions within its ranks.

He noted that despite past disputes, efforts led by key party figures had helped restore stability and cohesion within the organisation.

Nwachukwu assured the returning members that they had joined a united political family with equal opportunities for all.

In their separate remarks, the new members pledged loyalty to the party leadership and promised to abide by its constitution as they begin their reintegration into the PDP structure.
