Seven Liverpool Men featured for their respective home countries during this weekend’s slate of action.
Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai both started for Hungary in their eventual victory over Slovenia in a friendly that ended 1-0. Kerkez played for 76 minutes in a midfield winger role before coming off, while the captain lasted 87 minutes.
Andy Robertson captained Scotland at Hampden Park for 70 minutes, though the side fell to defeat by a single late goal from Junya Ito and visiting Japan.
France played again on Sunday, facing Luis Diaz and Colombia and taking a 1-3 victory. Ibrahima Konaté had a well earned rest on the bench, whereas Hugo Ekitike came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute to replace goal scorer Désiré Doué.
Two young Reds also got minutes on Saturday, as Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni started in England U19’s win against Poland in a European Championship Qualifier.
Up next will be Florian Wirtz and Germany facing Ghana on Monday, with Scotland, Hungary, Netherlands, and Egypt all playing again on Tuesday.
The international break can’t end soon enough, honestly. Everyone should be back to training by Wednesday or Thursday, to prepare for the early kick off on Saturday against Manchester City.
