Pack your bags and travel to the UK’s most beautiful town which boasts breathtaking views, picturesque beauty – all while being perfect for a British seaside escape

The UK is not short on gorgeous weekend escapes. There’s the “prettiest village” near London which boasts famous pubs and picturesque streets, as well as this hotspot named the most stunning in England.

Now if you fancy venturing a few hours on the train, this town will certainly not disappoint. You can have a charming authentic seaside experience on the coast with a unique water-balanced cliff lift, long sandy beach and a pier. So where is this stunning location you ask? Nestled on the North Yorkshire coast is the beautiful Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

In a TikTok post, a travel account claimed they “can’t believe towns this beautiful exist in the UK”. The clip shows a glimpse of the Yorkshire coast which is well worth a visit.

The seaside town is located in North Yorkshire and lies practically east–west.

What to do in Saltburn-by-the-Sea:

You are certainly spoilt for choice when you visit as the Victorian seaside town is known for its 200-metre-long pier, as well as the historic Cliff Tramway and sandy beach.

The Pier and Promenade is Yorkshire’s last remaining pier which opened in 1869. There’s colourful beach huts which you can gaze at all day long.

Meanwhile if you’d like to connect the town to the pier, you can ride on one of the world’s oldest operating cliff lifts.

And not only is it a destination for surfing, you can also walk the Cleveland Way trail, ride the miniature railway, as well as explore the Italian gardens.

Then when you get peckish, there’s fish and chips at the seafront. Other popular venues include the Signals and The Sitting Room.

To wrap up your visit, make sure you explore the beach at low tide for sea glass and fossils.

The best time to visit Saltburn-on-the-Sea is during summer with fully operational attractions. However, in the winter you can still enjoy beautiful, quiet scenic walks along the coast.

How to get there:

If you’re travelling from London, this is nearly a 5-hour journey, crossing 260 miles via the M1. However, trains can take just under 3 hours and a half.

Meanwhile, if you’re coming from Bristol, this is slightly longer and anywhere more south might be quite the distance.

Travelling from Manchester is fastest by car, taking around 2 hours. While it’s just over an hour if you’re coming from Leeds.
