The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has approved the timetable for its upcoming ward, local government, state and national congresses ahead of its internal electoral activities.

The NEC also fixed dates for the party’s congresses and primaries, alongside the national convention, while releasing the schedule of fees for nomination forms across various elective positions.

The decisions were reached during the party’s 25th NEC meeting held on Friday at its national secretariat in Abuja, where members ratified the timetable for congresses, primaries and the national convention.

According to the approved schedule, ward congresses will be held on May 21, 2026, followed by local government congresses on May 22, 2026. State congresses are expected to take place on May 23, 2026.

For the primary elections, the party stated that House of Assembly primaries will hold on May 24, while House of Representatives and Senate primaries are scheduled for May 25. Governorship primaries will take place on May 26, with the national convention and presidential primary fixed for May 30, 2026.

The YPP also announced the cost of nomination forms for different elective offices. While expression of interest forms will be issued free of charge, House of Assembly forms will cost N1.5 million, House of Representatives N3 million, Senate N8 million, Governorship N20 million, and Presidential N50 million.

The NEC approved a 50 per cent reduction in nomination fees for aspirants below 40 years of age, women, and persons living with disabilities, in what it described as a measure to encourage wider participation.

The sale of nomination forms is to begin immediately.

For Anambra State, the committee also agreed that the position of State Chairman be zoned to the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while the State Secretary position remains in the Southern Senatorial District.

The party further approved that all internal elections will be conducted through a combination of consensus and direct primary methods, in line with its constitution and provisions of the Electoral Act.
