Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a firefight in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

A counter-insurgency and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a statement shared on X.

Makama said the incident occurred at about 12:10 a.m. on April 23 when troops of the 8 Division Garrison, deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Marnona, responded to intelligence on suspected terrorist activity in Illela village.

He explained that troops made contact with the suspects and engaged them in a gun duel.

“Following the exchange of fire, one terrorist was neutralised, while others fled the scene,” he stated.
