Aspirant for the Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Ernest Anene Onwa, has commended the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President David Mark, describing their leadership as a major factor behind the growing acceptance of the party.

Onwa stated this in a release on Friday, while also congratulating newly elected members of the ADC executive committee in Enugu State.

Commends party leadership

The Enugu-born politician, who hails from Ozalla in Nkanu West Local Government Area, praised David Mark for steering the party through what he described as a successful national convention.

He also expressed confidence in the new state leadership, led by Professor Austin Akubue as Chairman and Chukwujekwu Nebo as Secretary, noting that they are well-positioned to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

Optimism ahead of 2027 elections

Onwa said he believes the new executive team will help position the ADC for success in the 2027 general elections, particularly in Enugu State.

He also acknowledged other party stakeholders in the state, including Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Prof. Barth Nnaji, and Dr. John Nwokeabia, for their roles in strengthening party structures and ensuring the successful conduct of internal elections.

Party convention and restructuring

The ADC recently held ward, local government, and state congresses across the country, culminating in its national convention on April 14, 2026, under the leadership of David Mark.

At the convention, the party’s national leadership was affirmed, while factional leaders were reportedly expelled as part of efforts to streamline party unity and direction.
