Pop star Dua Lipa has reportedly filed a major lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the technology company of using her image on television packaging in the United States without her permission.

According to court documents filed in the Central District of California, the singer alleged that her photograph appeared on packaging for Samsung’s Crystal 43-inch ultra-high-definition televisions as part of promotional material connected to the XITE Hits music channel.

The image in question was reportedly taken backstage at a music festival in 2024 and was later used on a large number of television boxes distributed across the American market.

Dua Lipa’s legal team argued that the use of the image created the false impression that she had endorsed or partnered with the company, potentially influencing consumers to purchase the televisions because of her association with the brand.

Her lawyer, Christine Lepera, stated in the filing that Samsung allegedly used a copyrighted photograph of the singer “without authority or licence” and prominently displayed it on retail packaging.

The lawsuit further claimed that the commercial success of the product was partly linked to the perception among consumers that the Grammy-winning singer had officially endorsed the televisions.

The singer is reportedly seeking at least 15 million dollars in damages, although the amount could rise if the case proceeds to a jury trial.

Court filings also alleged that Samsung failed to respond adequately to multiple legal warnings sent by Dua Lipa’s representatives before the matter escalated into formal legal action.

Included in the complaint were social media reactions from fans, some of whom reportedly stated that they bought or intended to buy the televisions after seeing the singer’s image on the packaging.

The filing additionally noted that Dua Lipa is selective about commercial partnerships and suggested that she would not automatically agree to associate herself with every global brand.

Over the years, the singer has secured endorsement deals with several international companies, including Nespresso, Puma, Porsche and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, strengthening her reputation as one of the music industry’s most commercially influential figures.

As of the time the report emerged, Samsung had not publicly responded to the allegations or filed an official defence in court.
