The Adamawa State Government has inaugurated a committee of technocrats to screen and select 5,000 qualified candidates from about 18,000 applicants for recruitment as teachers.
The committee is made up of representatives from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the State Civil Service Commission, and the Office of the Head of Service.
It is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Aisha Abubakar Umar, while the Acting Executive Secretary of PPSMB, Birsan Penuel, serves as co-chair.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Commissioner for Education, Umar Garba Pella, who said the committee has two weeks to complete the screening and selection exercise.
Pella urged members of the committee to ensure fairness in the process, stressing the government’s commitment to a transparent recruitment exercise.
He also warned against any form of misconduct or personal interest, calling on the committee to uphold integrity throughout the selection process.
