The billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Dr Deji Adeleke and afrobeats singer David Adeleke

Businessman and philanthropist Dr Deji Adeleke has publicly denied long-running claims that Afrobeats star Davido fathered a child with an Ibadan-based woman, saying several DNA tests carried out over the years showed the singer was not the biological father.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, Deji Adeleke said he decided to address the matter because the allegations continue to resurface online despite previous tests.

The controversy involves a young girl named Anuoluwapo, whose mother, Ayo Labinjo, had claimed Davido was responsible for her pregnancy after an encounter years ago in Ibadan.

According to Adeleke, he first became aware of the issue in 2014 after receiving documents from the family, including photographs, a birth certificate and a letter requesting that Davido take a paternity test.

He said the child’s grandmother appealed for confirmation rather than financial gain, insisting the family only wanted clarity and responsibility if the claim was true.

Adeleke said he responded immediately and assured them that if the child was proven to be his granddaughter, she would be accepted into the family.

He explained that arrangements were then made for a DNA test at a hospital in Lagos, with samples reportedly sent abroad for analysis. According to him, the result showed there was no biological link between Davido and the child.

He added that more tests were later conducted to remove any doubt, and each reportedly produced the same outcome.

The businessman said the family had no reason to reject the child if the results had been different.

He noted that he already has many grandchildren and said caring for another child would not have been an issue if science had established paternity

The matter recently returned to public discussion after a social media account said to represent the child reportedly asked Davido to undergo another DNA test.

Davido had earlier stated online that five separate DNA tests had already been done and all came back negative.

During the press conference, Adeleke also accused controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo of helping keep the story alive online through misinformation and impersonation claims.

The case highlights how unresolved celebrity controversies can continue for years through social media, even after legal or scientific processes have taken place.

It also raises questions about privacy, misinformation and the public pressure celebrities often face over personal matters.

Deji Adeleke urged the public to ignore what he described as false online narratives surrounding the case, maintaining that repeated DNA testing had already settled the matter.
