The governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has called on religious organisations to play a stronger role in promoting peaceful coexistence in the state and across Nigeria, especially at a time when the country is preparing for another cycle of leadership transition.

According to the governor, religious leaders have a responsibility to guide their followers towards peace, unity, and adherence to the core values of their faiths, which he said remain essential for national development.

He made the remarks through his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Rev. Ishaya Adamu Jangado, during the official inauguration of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA) held on Friday. He stressed that the time had come for religious leaders to actively use their influence to promote harmony and support efforts aimed at sustaining peace in the region.

Speaking on the theme, “The role of Northern Christian Religious Leaders in Governance,” the governor urged the newly inaugurated body to see its formation as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to government programmes and projects designed to advance development across Kaduna State.

He also expressed appreciation to religious leaders in the state for their continued efforts in maintaining peace, urging them to sustain the commitment as peaceful coexistence remains key to progress and stability.

Earlier at the event, Pastor Adegbegi Emmanuel Ayodeji, the NOCRELA North West Zonal Secretary General, encouraged the newly inaugurated members to view their positions as a call to serve both God and humanity, while upholding values that reflect integrity and godly conduct in society.

He added that the organisation would remain committed to encouraging its members to foster peace and work towards eliminating negative influences in society for the overall progress of the state.
