It has been almost a week since Mohamed Salah stunned the Liverpool fans by announcing his exit. His replacement talks continue to dominate the headlines, while Jürgen Klopp has also chipped in with his take.

Bayern Munich chiefs continue to put the Reds in the spotlight amid links with Michael Olise, while Hungary boss Marco Rossi has stepped back from his war of words with Arne Slot.

All that and more in today’s Liverpool news roundup:

Mohamed Salah is irreplaceable at Liverpool, says Klopp

Jürgen Klopp was at Anfield this weekend for the Liverpool legends vs Borussia Dortmund game. He spoke to the LFC Foundation about Mohamed Salah, calling the Egyptian king irreplaceable and saying:

“This specific kind of player is irreplaceable. I’m not sure there is even another one existing out there. There are other people playing on that wing with different strengths and qualities, but it is the numbers Mo produces … they are unmatched from that position.

“The numbers for a winger are ridiculous. For a striker, they are pretty much unmatched. So, if it is impossible, why should you try? I’m not in the role to advise anyone, but just bring players in and play the kind of football which can be successful.”

Salah has scored 255 goals for Liverpool in 435 games, of which 211 goals came in 349 appearances under Klopp.

Bayern Munich chief takes dig at Liverpool

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has claimed that Harry Kane is worth €250 million in the current market. He compared the Englishman to Aleander Isak, saying that their valuation is justified because Liverpool paid €150 million to sign the Newcastle United striker, and said:

“It was a bit of a risk [spending €100m on Kane in 2023]. But he’s played incredibly well for us in recent years. If we consider the price-performance ratio, I’d say €150 million. But then you see that Alexander Isak of Liverpool cost €150 million. If he’s worth 150 million, then Harry is worth €250 million.”

Hungary boss ends war with Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Hungary boss Marco Rossi was not happy with Arne Slot’s comments that his Liverpool players needed a break rather than going on international duty this month. The Dutchman believes the schedule has been grueling for the players and that they have been overworked.

Rossi was unhappy with the comments, saying he was overstepping and should not be telling national team managers how to use their players. He took aim at the Liverpool boss, claiming that he would never question the Reds coach for playing Dominik Szoboszlai as a defender.

The Hungary boss has since taken a step back, saying that he never meant to take shots at Slot. He added that the comments were well-intentioned and heaped praise on the Dutchman.
