Every year, Goal.com’s NXGN rankings put the world’s most exciting teenage football talent under the microscope – and 2026 is no different.

Now in its sixth year, the annual list has long served as one of football’s most respected barometers for identifying the next generation of superstars. Past honourees have gone on to become household names, with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Pedri all having featured before breaking through at the very highest level. The 2026 edition is arguably its most global yet, drawing from 21 nationalities spread across clubs in 17 different countries.

Fast forward twelve months, and Ngumoha has taken a significant leap up the rankings, landing at 15th place in the NXGN 2026 list. It is a remarkable rise for a player still only 17 years old.

Above him sit some of the most sought-after prospects on the planet. Lamine Yamal tops the list once again as the undisputed number one, with Chelsea’s Estevão in second. Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi (3rd), Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono (4th), and Arsenal’s Max Dowman (6th) also ranked ahead of the Liverpool winger.

He announced himself to the Premier League in emphatic fashion, coming off the bench on his top-flight debut against Newcastle United back in August and scoring a stunning stoppage-time winner in the 100th minute to seal a dramatic 3–2 away victory – making him the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.

He also became the youngest Liverpool player ever to feature in the UEFA Champions League, making his debut in a 3–2 win over Atlético Madrid at just 17 years and 19 days old.

Since then, the left winger has gone on to make 13 Premier League appearances and 22 outings across all competitions this season, registering his one league goal alongside a consistent presence off the bench.
