Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has said that the reported exit of Finance Minister Wale Edun from office shows that no one within President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle is immune to sudden political changes.

Dalung made the remark while reacting to reports surrounding Edun’s departure, despite his long-standing relationship with President Tinubu.

While an official explanation attributed Edun’s exit to health-related issues, there were also reports suggesting that he was dismissed by the President.

Speaking to journalists, Dalung said, “I agree with them that he stepped down because of health issues, as that’s what their media statement says. But the truth is more than what they’re sharing with the people of Nigeria.”

He added that Edun had worked closely with Tinubu for many years, suggesting that the circumstances around his exit reflected a broader pattern within the administration.

“This method serves a function similar to Tinubu as Wale Edun. He has been collaborating with Tinubu for a long time,” Dalung said.

He further stated that the development indicates that individuals close to the President are not shielded from political decisions affecting appointments within the administration.
